I begin with the very first day I met Florence in August of 1981. We became friends that very day and remained close throughout the years (even though she returned to West Virginia in 2000). She became my *golf mentor*. She taught me more about the game than any book could have. We played Team Play for Monterey Bay, representing our Womens Club for Salinas Golf & Counry Club. She was my partner for the very first round I played for our team. Robert and Florence Backus brought such joy and laughter to *all* and they both will be carried in our hearts for an eternity. The Post's and The Backus' were partners for many years in the Club Events. Florence had such a talent when it came to telling her own lifes stories. I was Director for The Junior Golf Association of Northern California and SG&CC hosted a junior golf tournament and during my reign Florence announced all 160 players *off the first tee* (for two days) and continued to do so for 15 years. She has left a remarkable impression on eveyone she met. We who had her friendship are the lucky ones. The night before she left for West Virginia in 2000 ------- Eddie and I dined with her in Carmel, Califonia, in a restaurant that our daughter was employeed. It was a night to remember. We shared 19 years of such fond memories. One such memory was the evening we had Robert and Florence to our home for dinner. We served "artichokes" . She made such a "to do" on eating an artichoke that it has caused me laughter over all these years. I love you Florence Backus. God Bless you! You will always be in my heart ................Margi Post, Monterey Peninsula, California
