Obituary for
Harriett Murray-Jones (Gilmour)
Harriett (Murray) Jones 82 of Crooked Creek went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Logan Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. Born November 1, 1927 at Mt. Gay, and she was the daughter of the late Alex and Pansy Hall Gilmour. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Ray Murray and her second husband, Archie Jones, one grandson, Jamie and one brother, Alex.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all who met her. She was well known for sewing, baking, and always lending a helping hand and smile, and most certainly never met a stranger. She left Logan and moved to Florida and for 22 years was a department manager at K-Mart, in 2002 she returned to Logan to be with her family. Harriett was a member of the Crooked Creek Church of Christ where she was a member of the choir.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Carolyn (Tennis) Mahon of Callahan, Florida, Nancy (Elmo) Kirk, Tom (Loretta) Murray, and William (Chigger) Murray of Logan, Beverly Murray (Tim Fortner) of Brunswick, Ohio, five sisters, Jean (Paul) Bachman of Michigan, Betty Under and Jennie (Jack) Porter of Logan, Sally (Bob) White and Margaret Gibson of Daytona Beach, FL, three brothers, Fred (Ima) Gilmour and J.C. Gilmour all of Daytona Beach, FL, and Tom (Daphne) Gilmour of Miami, Florida, her grandchildren, Shawn, Shane, and Jason Mahon, Melanie Clark, Jimmy, Jeffrey, Aston, and Jennifer Kirk, Shannon and Harriett Jean Murray, David and Kimberly Strizzi, Ray, Alisha, and Justin Murray, 14 great-grandchildren, and a very special friend, Pansy Easley of Florida.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 11:00AM at the Crooked Creek Church of Christ with Mr. Tim Secrist, Minister officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby. Friends may call from 6:00-9:00 on Friday at Honaker Funeral Home in Logan, and one hour prior to services at the church. Pallbearers will include, Ray and Justin Murray, Jimmy and Jeffrey Kirk, Tim Fortner, Michael Fortuna, and Billy Lawrence.
