Vernon Johnston York, age 56 of Chapmanville departed this life on Monday, November 23, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington, WV. Born March 29, 1953 in Logan he was the son of the late Robert R. and Marzetta Jane Lacy York.
Mr. York was of the Church of God of Prophecy faith, he was a 1972 graduate of Logan High School, and he was formerly employed by Rich Food Service Products in Ohio.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Ellis York of Hurricane, two sons Vernon (Angela) York, Jr. of Grove City, Ohio and Robert York of Hurricane, one brother Robert of Proctorville, Ohio, five sisters Priscilla (Ronald) Dixon of Circleville, Ohio, Elizabeth (Tommy) Thompson of Guyan Terrace, Patricia (Cecil) Burgess of Ethel, Virginia Glasmyer of Elyria, Ohio, and Barbara (Robert) Evans of Copley, Ohio, grandchildren Hannah, Brenda, Timothy, Allyson, Joseph York all of Grove City, Ohio, and a host of other nieces, nephews, extended family, and good friends.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 1:00 PM at Honaker Funeral Home in Logan. Friends may call on Saturday from 11:00-1:00 at the funeral home. His body will be cremated.
