Obituary for Rodie Randall Hatfield

Rodie Randall  Hatfield
Rodie "Randy" Randall Hatfield, peacefully went to be with The Lord, November 19, 2015, surrounded by loved ones. He was born December 1, 1944 in Logan, WV. He often referred to himself as a "Cow Creeker". He graduated from Logan High School in 1963, where he then joined the U.S. Navy. Being in the Navy sent him all over the world from Scotland to Ethiopia. He was stationed in Norfolk, VA, where he met his wife of 23 years, Linda "Dee" Hatfield. He retired from the Navy with a total of 42 years.
Rodie was a member of the Portsmouth Moose Lodge, past president of The Virginia Country Music Association, The American Legion (Churchland, VA branch) and coached softball for many years with Olive Branch Little League.
He was predeceased in death by his wife, Linda "Dee" and his mother Evelyn York. He is survived by his father Rodie Hatfield of Roanoke, VA; 3 daughters, Rebecca Waters (John) of Whitman, WV, Ashley Buckhannon (Darren) of Holden, WV and Jennifer Cannoe of Chauncy, WV. 18 grandchildren, Brittany Hollingsworth, Kaylen York, Erin Smith, Matthew York, Shaina York, Rosario Lombardo IV, Rhiannon Cannoe, Alan Smith, Bailey Dumire-Hunsinger, Elijah Lombardo, Joey Cannoe, Zachary Dumire, Zane Dumire, Gage Hunsinger, Shawna "Puffy" Westbrook, A.J. Smith, Jordan Buckhannon and Savannah Buckhannon; 2 great grandchildren, Adalynn Hollingsworth and Baby Mowery; 3 step daughters, Rinni Dumire-Hunsinger (Megan) of Chesapeake, VA, Susie Smith (Donnie) of Portsmouth, VA and Shelley Willis (Steven) of Austin, TX; 4 sisters, Barbara May of Logan, WV, Hilda Trent of Roanoke, VA, Peggy Smith of Holden, WV and Kaye Mullins (Charlie) of Troutville, VA. And 2 very special friends Arthur Curry (Gail) of Mud Fork, WV and Julius "Doc J" Layne (Linda) of Ohio.
The family will receive visitors at Honaker Funeral Home on Monday November 23, 2015 from 5pm-7pm to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The American Cancer Society (cancersocietyofamerica.org) or The Children's Hospital of the Kings Daughters (chkd.org).
