Obituary for Jacque Snyder

Jacque McCormick Snyder, 61, left this life to enter the Lord's Eternal Kingdom Saturday, November 30, 2013, following a battle with cancer. She was born at Logan, W.Va., April 24, 1952, to Okey and Ernestine McCormick, both deceased.
She attended Logan High School and graduated in 1974 from Marshall University with a B.A. in Management and Finance. She worked for several years as a finance and insurance agent and sometimes salesperson at L & S Motors at Stollings, alongside her cousin Larry LaFon.
She obtained a Master's Degree in Education for persons with learning disabilities from the WV College of Graduate Studies, and later completed certifications in Reading from Marshall University and Blind and Vision Impaired Education from Vanderbilt University. She worked as a teacher for the Logan County Board of Education from 1985 - 1997 at several schools throughout the county. Following this, she was a GED instructor for the W.Va. Department of Corrections. For the past eight years, she was a proud homemaker.
Along with her passion to work with children with disabilities and the disadvantaged, Mrs. Snyder had talent in the performing arts. She was an active participant in TAS community theatre, with roles in the musicals "Fiddler on the Roof," "Oliver," "Cabaret," "Hello Dolly," and the production of "The Aracoma Story," beginning in 1979. She was a gifted singer, actress and writer, who also produced many non-published poems and essays.
Mrs. Snyder was a lifelong member of Nighbert Memorial United Methodist Church in Logan, where she served on the Administrative Council and many committees through the years. After moving to Summersville, W.Va., she became an active member of the Memorial United Methodist Church. Mrs. Snyder studied and became a certified Lay Minister in the United Methodist Church and was also a member of the Kanawha Valley Emmaus Council.
She is survived by her husband and best friend of eight years, Danny Snyder, and her two brothers, David McCormick (with his wife Judy) of Logan, and Steven McCormick (with is wife Marci) of Bedford, N.Y. She will be missed by her constant canine companion, Boo Boo. Mrs. Snyder is also survived by her five nieces and nephews, David Jr., Kelli, Casey, Ben and Emma McCormick, and a daughter and grandson.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m., Wednesday, November 4, 2013, at Honaker Funeral Home, Logan.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., December 5, 2013, at Nighbert Memorial United Methodist Church, followed by interment at Highland Memory Gardens, Godby Heights, W.Va.
In lieu of floral or other tributes, the family asks that donations be made to Memorial United Methodist Church, 1317 Webster Road, Summersville, W.Va., 26651.
